Thanks to all who supported our coffee morning on Friday 7th December. Over €1,300 was raised and this money will go towards subsidising swimming and bus trips. Thanks to the Parents Association for organising it.
Thanks to the Parents ,Guardians, Grandparents, friends of the school and the wider community for supporting it by baking, buying cakes and buns, raffle tickets and calling in for tea and coffee.

The Parents Assocation wish to invite you to their Christmas Coffee Morning on tomorrow Friday 7th December from 9.30am - 12pm. There will be a Raffle on the morning with great prizes. The money raised will go towards subsidising swimming and bus trips in the next two terms.
Here under are the events happening in the next two weeks.
Mrs Linehan Junior Infants - Sing Along on Tuesday 18th December, at 1.30pm in school.
Miss O'Riordan Junior and Senior Infants and pupils from the Butterfly Room will perform their 'What a Star' play on Wednesday 19th at 1.20pm.
Mrs O'Shea Senior Infants and First Class will have their 'Sing Along' on Thursday 20th at 1.30pm.
All parents are welcome to see their children perform in school on those days.
Thursday 20th - 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th classes will go Carol Singing at the Credit Union at 11am. Parents may also visit the Credit Union to see 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th Carol Singing.
First and Second Class will visit Mercy House (date to be decided) .

Monday saw the start of Active School Week here in Kanturk GNS. On Monday we were very lucky to have Seán Kelly MEP with us to raise our European and Active school flags. He spoke to us about the importance of being part of the European Union and even left us a few items to raffle off in classes. Our School were very fortunate to have RnR dance with us on the day who put on an amazing display with students from the girls and boys school. We were very proud of them. RnR dance took different classes for the day too. Throughout the week, there are many activities happening in our school as part of Active School Week such as Dance, Basketball, Camogie, Football, exercise class, soccer, Wake Up Shake Up, Obstacles courses and so much more. We are delighted to work with parents and other members of our community to promote lots of different activities which are available after school. Well done to our girls who did very well in the Cork City Sports on Friday 1st June . We are all very proud of them.
Coffee Morning Friday 8th June . All welcome . Also European Awareness Day in our school on Friday 8th June also at 11am. 5th & 6th will be presenting their research and projects on all the Countries in the European Union and we will be honoured with a visit from Deirdre Clune MEP, Michael Creed , Minister for Agriculture and other local TDs and County Councillors as well as representatives from Kanturk Community Council, Chamber of Commerce and IRD.
Active School Week 18th June to 22nd June. Lots of events happening that week including dance, basketball, camogie, soccer, exercise classes and many more activities. We will also raise our 2nd Active School Flag on the Monday of that week. Well Done to everyone in our school community who have maintained their active and healthy lifestyles since our last flag. Well done to the girls on the A.S. Committee for working so hard over the last few years.
Best wishes to the girls and boys receiving their First Holy Communion on this Saturday, 26th of May 2018. May God be with them on the day and always. Here's hoping the weather stays fine for the weekend.

Our 5th class girls have just finished 5 weeks of cycling safely and road safety awareness classes with John and Kieron (Cork Sports partnership)
1st, 2nd and 3rd class are going swimming on Fridays.
4h, 5th and 6th are doing PE classes with transition years in Scoil Mhuire on Thursdays
Emma Burke is training Senior classes in football on Tuesdays.
5th & 6th will be confirmed on the 16th May
2nd class will recieve their First Holy Communion on May 26th.
Well done to the Lip Sinc group representing our school in the Edel Quinn Hall on Sat 28th April who were the overall winners. A great night was had by all and the proceeds will go towards replacing the roof on the Edel Quinn Hall.
Welcome back after the Easter break and we hope you all enjoyed it. Our Easter Raffle was a great success. €600 was raised and the money is going to subsidising school trips and to the Lip Sync competition which is a fundraiser for replacing the roof on the Edel Quinn hall. Many thanks to Spar Kanturk, SuperValu Kanturk and Dunnes Mallow who sponsored the Easter eggs.
Please support the Lip Sync competition as the Edel Quinn Hall is a great venue to hold all local events and we are fortunate as a community to have it. We were very appreciative to be able to use the hall in December for our Christmas performance 'All Kinds of Everything'
Swimming classes for First, Second and Third classes begins Friday 20th April for 5 weeks. The cost for the bus and lessons is only 25€ per pupil and the remainder of the cost is subsidised by the Parents Association.
Tag Rugby has been postponed for the next few weeks .
The Ceremony of Light for our Confirmation pupils will take place on Saturday 21st May 2018 at 7.30pm
For Easter Holidays , we will close at 12.20pm on Friday March 23rd and reopen on Monday , April 9th
Well done to our 2nd class who made their First Confession on Tuesday 20th March.

Parent Teacher meetings Weds 21st and Thurs 22nd February
There will be an Internet Safety Seminar for Parents in our school on Thursday 15th March at 7.15 p.m. This talk will be given by Zeeko Academy(Internet Safety Seminar Specialists) and pupils from 1st to 6th will have Internet Safety workshops during that day. We ask that all parents/guardians try and come to the Parents Seminar as Internet Safety is a growing issue especially for our young children/teenagers. The talk is being subdised by our Parents association.
Important dates this term
- Thursday 1st February 2018 - Grandparents Day: Mass at 10am . Senior Infants - 6th will be attending. After Mass all parents and Grandparents of both boys and girls school are invited to the Convent Primary School for refreshments in the school hall. Grandparents are invited to visit their Grandchild's class in our school.
- February 12th - 14th is Friendship week in our school. There will be lots of activities games etc based around friendship.
- Parent Teacher meetings Wednesday 21st & Thursday 22nd February.
- Open night for Juniors Infants 2018 on Tuesday 13th February at 7.30pm.
