'Strictly comes to Kanturk' dance competition was held in the Edel Quinn Hall on Friday last 9th December. It was a fantastic night's entertainment and a complete sell out. It was organised by the Parents Association of our school. The dancers included 24 local people who gave their time and energy to dance for this event. Judges included local men Michael Winters and Andy Walsh, Newmarket, Irish dancing teacher Julie Nolan and Lesley Ann Radcliffe, Centre Stage, Mallow.
Derval Vaughan Principal of the Girls school acknowledged the great work of the Parents Association in organising the event and the dancers who gave up their time to take part and performed so well on the night. A special thanks to Michael Browne who was a superb MC for the night and Peter O'Callaghan who volunteered his expertise on lighting and sound. Well done to the hall committee for their great work on the night and leading up to the event. A special thanks to the businesses who sponsored the event and all the parents and local community who supported the night. The money raised will go towards Science and PE equipment and new books for reading initiatives for the school. All equipment bought will transfer to the new school when it's built.
