'Strictly comes to Kanturk' dance competition was held in the Edel Quinn Hall on Friday last 9th December. It was a fantastic night's entertainment and a complete sell out. It was organised by the Parents Association of our school. The dancers included 24 local people who gave their time and energy to dance for this event. Judges included local men Michael Winters and Andy Walsh, Newmarket, Irish dancing teacher Julie Nolan and Lesley Ann Radcliffe, Centre Stage, Mallow.
Active School Week was a huge success and enjoyed by all in the school. Thank you to all who supported the event in any way.
A huge thanks to the outside facilitators who provided classes and activities throughout the week.

Huge Congratulations to the children in our school who participated in the Cork City Sports on Wednesday, 1st of June. This was our first year taking part. The girls ran really well, enjoyed the day and we also received a few trophies for our efforts.

Active School Update May/June 2016
The Active School committee have been very busy planning and organising Active School Week. Active School Week is taking place from Monday, 30th of May to Friday, 3rd of June in addition to many activities taking place in the school all year. These activities all promote a healthy and active lifestyle. We hope that the children are enjoying the week.
Events this term
· Tag Rugby : Junior ,Seniors , 1st & 2nd Thursday mornings.
· Football : Junior & Senior Infants Tuesday mornings.
· Girls Football Final Weds 25th May.
· Active School Week Mon 30th May – June 3rd
Activities including Zumba, Gymnastics, Mindfulness, School disco with D J Cal.
· Skipathon Monday 30th May.
UCC Trip and Sing Aloud Concert March 7th
A great day and night was had in Cork on Monday 7th March. 4th & 5th travelled to Cork with their Teacher Úna Meehan and Principal Derval Vaughan. The first stop was UCC where the girls ,in graduation robes were given a guided tour of UCC . This was a very interesting visit and some of the girls are aspiring to become UCC students in the future. The girls were all presented with certificates and given some nice goodies at the end of the tour.
