Welcome back to a new term and we wish you all a Happy New Year.
The following are a few points to note.:
Swimming has started for classes from 4th – 6th .
The cost is €25 and this is heavily subsidised by the Parents Association. Everyone going to swimming must pay €25 and the same will apply to classes from 1st – 3rd when they go next term. This money covers the cost of hiring the pool, the instructors and paying for the bus
1st, 2nd & 3rd will travel to the Lewis Glucksman Gallery in UCC Cork on Friday 27th February. They will get a guided tour of the Gallery and take part in a creative workshop called ‘Monoprint Magic. As this trip will be subsidised by Parents Association the cost per pupil will be €5
Catholic Schools Week is on from 25th January – 31st January, 2015. On Wednesday 28th it is Grandparents Day. In order to mark the occasion our school and the boys school are inviting Parents and Grandparents to join us at 10am Mass and after then to the Girls School Hall for tea & Coffee. Also Grandparents of pupils in all classes may visit their grandchild/children’s class in the girls school if they wish.
Parents Association will hold a table quiz on Friday March 6th at 8pm in the Rugby Club. Tables will be €40 or people can buy an individual ticket for €10 and can join a table on the night. A text will be sent out when tickets are available for sale. All support from parents/guardians will be greatly appreciated as all money raised will subsidise the costs of events trips and resources for the school.
Limerick School Proms: Pupils from 4th, 5th & 6th classes will travel to Limerick on Saturday 28th February to take part in the Limerick School Proms . This is an exciting event for the girls as they will join a large group of other schools and singing a variety of lovely songs with the Cross Border Orchestra. Any Parent/Guardian who wishes to travel on the bus on February 28th please contact the office.
Parent Teacher Meetings will be held on Wednesday 4th February and Thursday 5th February. Appointment times will be organised later. Anyone who cannot attend on these dates can organise an alternative date with the class teacher.
Yoga Classes continue after school on Thursdays at 4pm. Anyone interested in January can come at that time.
DES Information: Anyone who has not already sent back the information form requested by the DES could you please do so by the end of this week.
Active Schools – We continue to encourage you to keep active with your child/children at home. We will hold an Active Schools Week later in the year. Also we have invited members of different sports organisations to give a lesson to different classes in the school e.g cycling, rugby, football soccer, golf. Some classes will also do Yoga and Mindfulness.
