PARENTS ASSOCIATION KANTURK GIRLS NATIONAL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER JUNE 2016

Dear Parents

As the school year comes to an end and the summer holidays are almost here The Parents Association want to update you on the year’s activities.

Operation Active commenced in January and ran for 8 weeks. This event was very well supported by the wider community and was great fun for all who took part. We would like to thank all the instructors who gave classes on the Monday nights. Without their support we could not have run the event. A very big thank you to all who braved the cold dark nights and attended the classes followed by the walk in Greenane Park.

The Parents Association and parents of First Class hosted the Communion teas in May. This is an annual event and we want to thank the First Class parents who helped us out. We also thank the parents who organised the flowers in church.  We  look forward to continuing this tradition with the parents of First Class next year.

A great night was had by all who attended the table Quiz in Bobs Bar in June. It was a very tense night with only half a point separating 1st and 2nd places. Many thanks to all who turned up on the night and all those who bought raffle tickets.

A special thanks to all the parents, outside of our Committee, who have helped out in the activities and events in the school this year.

This year the Parents Association sponsored the following:

            Book Rental    €1000

            Yoga               €400

            Swimming       €1000

Without the ongoing support of you the parents of the school, we would not be in a position to make these payments. Thanks to you, these activities are being offered to the pupils at reduced costs thus enabling us all to benefit. We hope that next year we will continue to build on this years success and we hope that many more parents will join us. The AGM will be held in September and details will be sent home then.

Until then we want to wish Sixth class all the best in post primary and the Senior Infant boys’ good luck as the move to the boy’s school. We want to thank our principal Derval Vaughan and all the teachers for their support over the year. Finally, we hope that all pupils and their families have a great summer and we will see you all in September.

Yours sincerely,
