Our caterpillars have transformed into pupae and are in the chrysalis stage of the butterfly cycle. We take really good care of our classroom pets and have prepared nectar and fruit for them to eat (Please see new pictures).
After Easter Break, we discovered a butterfly garden in our classroom. We soon learned all about the butterfly cycle. Our caterpillars are eating a lot of big and will grow to ten times their original size.
March welcomes tag rugby to school. We really enjoyed our first tag rugby lesson. We even scored a few tries! Mrs. Meehan and her class also highlighted the importance of water conservation with a wonderfully exciting trip to the park.
St. Brigid's day welcomed the Spring with a very busy month in school with new letters and letter sounds. We are enjoying our new class readers- "GG is Too Big!", "Where Can GG Sit?" and "Globby Helps Out". We also have our shared reading and library books to read at home because our class enjoy reading. In Maths, Junior Infants are focusing on the number 5 this month and Senior Infants are examing the number 9. In Gaeilge, we are learning about Éadaí and Sa Bhaile.
Grandparents' Day was a wonderful success in our school. Our class were even visited by four generations! We really enjoyed singing and saying poems for all who visited our class.
Huge congratulations to Kanturk on their fantastic win. We had a feeling they would win and celebrated early on Friday (Please see pictures below)!
We are settled back into school and looking forward to Grandparents' Day next week. We have been very busy over the last couple of weeks with our new class readers, as well as shared reading for Junior and Senior Infants. Please see our Aistear photographs below- 'Play is the work of the child'.
December has been a very busy month in the Junior/ Senior Infant Classroom! We welcomed a new teacher into our classroom- Miss O'Riordan. Mrs. Linehan and Miss O'Riordan are very good friends, so we know that the children in our class will shine equally as bright with their new teacher. We would like to wish our class teacher Mrs. Linehan a very Happy Christmas. We hope to see you soon!
"All Kinds of Everything"
We performed "Frozen" at the "All Kinds of Everything" extravaganza in the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk on 8th December. We worked very hard at learning our scripts, songs and dance routines for the play. We know our families and friends were very proud of us.
We even featured in "The Corkman" newspaper- We hope you like our new pictures below!
October was a busy month for us. The Senior Infants started Literacy Lift Off where we took home a different book each night. We went into Mrs. O'Shea's room for this where we met up with the rest of the Senior Infant class. The Junior Infants started learning letters and sounds and are all excited about starting homework after the Halloween break. We started Aistear in the Aistear Room which is great fun. We all play at different play stations and we explored the Halloween theme during October. We all dressed up for Halloween on the day of the holidays. Take a look at our scary costumes!!! Happy Halloween everyone and have fun trick-or-treating.
