Active School Week
Monday, 20th - Friday, 24th of April 2015.
The committee have been working hard to organise Active School Week and it is going to be lots of fun with a variety of activities for all classes.
All classes will partcipate in two to three taster lessons from various health promoting and sporting personnel in our community. It is a great opportunity for the children to see the different ways that they can be active and that 'having a go' and having fun is important for a healthy lifestyle.
There is a jam packed timetable for the week with activities such as Badminton, Rugby, Golf, Football, Basketball, Cycling, Kangoo jumps and Yoga. There will be talks on Nutrition, Cycling and Football.
Children will wear runners all week with tracksuits as an option. We will walk to school on Thursday morning. There will be a Competition for each class running throughout the week ie. Colouring Competition for Junior and Senior Infants, Art Competition: My Active School: 1st-3rd Class and Active School Motto Competition: 4th - 6th Class.
On Friday, we will have an Active School Quiz and Disco. We will also perform our Active School Dance with Peter O' Callaghan.
Active School Week promises to be a fantastic week full of learning new skills, being active, being aware of an active lifestyle and having lots of fun!!!
Also, class teachers will be encouraging the children to be active at home throughout the week. We would encourage all Parents/Guardians to take part with their children too where possible.
