October/November

Hi welcome back after our mid-term break.

On Monday 16th of October Hurricane Ophelia hit Ireland and the Department of Education closed all schools around Ireland. There was a lot of  wind and rain, but thankfully we weren''t very badly affected.

6th class have been trying to choose which secondary school they want to go to. On the 11th of November the 6th class did thier entrance exams, and it went very well. 6th class are excited to move on but very upset that we are leaving the school and some of our friends.

Miss Guiney helped us make chocolate brownies. We made lots of brownies and they were lovely, we got to take them home and have a hot cuppa with them. Hopefully we can make them again soon!!!!

Kanturk have succeeded in winning the Premier Intermediate Munster Hurling Final. Some of the Kanturk team came into visit us with the two cups. As a result we got no homework. YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!

We entered two teams into a Public Speaking Competition in Newmarket. The first team went on the 22nd of November and got through to the final the girls are very happy! The second team are going to compete on the 29th of November. The first team include, Ava Hynes , Johannah Pigott, Mathea Scanlan and Emma Krenzer. The second team include Sarah Humphreys, Sophie Murphy, Amy Linehan and Mary Sheehan.

Along with our last project which was based on Paris we have to complete 1073 laps of the yard, as the distance from Dublin to Paris is 1073km.We are trying to keep active so we do activities like "Go Noodle" a website that is fun and keeps us fit and healthy. Our school football team has been training for an up and coming blitz in October.

During the month we have been working on projects, our next project is on the Normans. In art we have been making paper machê vases from scratch as we were learning about the Ancient Greeks. There is also great excitement buzzing around our school as Kanturk will be contesting the Premier Intermediate Hurling Final and the Intermediate Football Final
