Back to Term Two and a New Year
Fourth and Fifth class started 2016 with some great news!! They were awarded the Irish School of the Month for December for their work on the Water Explorers Website. Our prize was a Polaroid digital camera. The work continues with some interesting projects on water conservation in other countries.

MÁRTA 2016- Well February went by so fast, I did not get a chance to update our page. !!! So here is a flavour of what we have been doing
Water Explorers- The work continues. We have been asked to do a WATER FESTIVAL in our school, so the girls are currently doing a project around paper and saving water. Our work is show-cased on waterexplorers.com
1916 FLAG CEREMONY- We are getting ready for our big school to commemorate the Easter Rising, with project work, songs, music and writing the school proclamation.

SING OUT LOUD --After months of singing (which we all enjoyed!), our trip to Cork finally arrived. We had a truly great day out. Thanks to Alan in UCC for his interesting tour of the college, especially the observatory. All girls graduated with flying colours!. A trip is not a trip without a stop at MacDonalds of course and because it was Book Week, we decided to show the girls around Waterstones. At the Opera House the class got to perform with over 200 children and I thought they were the BEST !!! They really enjoyed the experience and a huge THANK YOU to all parents and families who supported the concert.
WINNER!!! Well done to Katie Savage who won a book hamper from Today FM for correctly identifying a book quotation. Happy reading Katie
AIBREÁN 2016- Easter holidays over and we are back for a very busy last term. On Wednesday 2oth, fifth and sixth class celebrated their Confirmation day. It was a great success and well done to Ciara O Regan, Kayla McKeever and Laura Gunn who helped with readings and offertory. The girls had a lovely sunny day. Also a huge THANK YOU to my Fourth class who "sang out loud" again in the Confirmation choir.
WATER EXPLORERS- This month we are continuing with our challenges to conserve water at school and at home. We had a"PAPER-LESS" day where the photocopier was switched off for the day to save paper. Thanks to all staff who helped with this. We are going to make water pumps to see how water is carried into our homes and the difficulties faced by people in poorer countries in finding clean water. During May we have been invited to take part in a water festival to show off everything we have learned about water All our blogs can be seen on waterexplorers.com. It's worth a look.
WINNERS GOING TO THE ZOO !!!!!!!!. Yesterday April 27th, we got great news. Our class won a trip to DUBLIN ZOO!!!!. WE entered a poetry competition called "Wouldn't it be Great to Have a Tail". A special mention for HAGAR SOLIMAN whose poem was chosen as the overall winner out of 370 entries. WELL DONE to Hagar. You can see her poem on Dublin Zoo facebook page and also on Cork County Council page. We hope to make the trip in June and more details will be posted later. We all took part in the POETRY SLAM in Kanturk library to celebrate a "poetry wave" throughout Co. Cork.
