4th & 5th Class 2014

Teacher: Mrs. Úna Meehan.

Welcome to 4th and 5th Class

GREEN SCHOOL- The hard work continues.......literally! The class was invited to take part in a tree-planting activity on Friday 27th March. This was organised by the Tidy Towns Committee and we thought it was a great idea to find out about our native trees and plant some in Greenane Park. So we got stuck in with the spade!! Thanks to Eugene O Riordan for the helping hand. We also took part in the unveiling of a beautiful new plaque for Greenane Park highlighting the flora and fauna of the area.

We have been partcipating in lots of different activities since the start of the school year.

Recently our class took part in a recycling art competition in our classroom. The class had lots of fun and each of them created fantastic creations out of a 2 litre plastic milk bottle. They should be very proud of their work. The winners creations are on display in our re-cycling centre in the school.

During active school energy week lots of different activities were happening around the school. We completed an energy awareness play which we performed for the rest of the school. All the other classes really enjoyed it.

See some photographs of our performance below.

Also, we have been practising our songs for Limerick Peace Proms and we are very excited about the event coming up in February.

Before Christmas our class decided to raise money for the Simon Community Organisation. Each group baked a variety of buns and cakes which were on sale in the school hall.  All the classes came down to the hall at various stages throughout the day and supported our event very generously. We were delighted to present a cheque to the Simon Community before Christmas. We felt it was a fantastic opportunity to think of others and felt it was certainly worthwhile.
